

Netta Garnet Brown, 89, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Raleigh General Hospital, following a long illness. Born July 21, 1926 in Cyclone, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ashby and Lalah Cook Brown and Lula Blankenship Brown. Garnet trusted Christ as her Savior as a young girl and became a member of Bright Prospect Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Women’s Circle of the church. She enjoyed homemaking, cooking, spending time with her family, reading her Bible, and attending church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Naaman Brown on October 5, 2003; a granddaughter, Michelle Carol Brown; five brothers, Verlin, Donald, Paris, Gary, and Charles Brown; three sisters, Marie Lusk, Maxine Martin and Betty Workman; and brothers-in-law, Roy Lusk and Rupert Martin. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Naaman Carroll Brown and wife, Deborah of Saulsville, with whom she made her home; a brother, Chelsie Brown and wife, Yoko of Winston Salem, NC; sisters-in-law, Helen Brown of Mallory, Eunice Brown of Logan and Gretcha Brown of Cyclone; several nieces and nephews; her church family; and a host of family and friends. Paul Brown, Fairley Lusk, Leroy Lusk, Sharol Lusk, Aaron Adkins, Tim Martin. E. L. Brown, and Roger Day will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the excellent and loving care given to Garnet by Dr. Shashi Bhavsar of the Oceana Medical Clinic.
