She was born on January 13, 1923, in Allen, OK, to Othor and Norah Parham. Alma grew up in Patricia, TX, and graduated high school in Lamesa, TX. She later received her associate’s degree from Odessa College and her bachelor’s degree from Sul Ross University in elementary education. Alma taught third grade for more than thirty years and truly cherished all of the children. The majority of her teaching career was spent at Burleson Elementary where she made many lifelong friends.
Alma married the love of her life, George Wayne Stewart, on January 25, 1947. The two spent their next 58 years together until Wayne’s passing in 2005. Together they raised three children; George, Sharon and Laura. Alma and Wayne were inseparable and greatly enjoyed camping, spending time with friends, and attending Northside Baptist Church. Alma was a Christian and taught Sunday school at Northside Baptist Church; she served the Lord and her church faithfully.
Alma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many who will truly miss her. Her three children were grateful to have grown up in a Christian loving home. She loved her family, was very nurturing and was so proud of her kids and grandkids. We will miss her here on earth but are rejoicing with her as she joins her Heavenly home.
She was preceded in death by her parents Othor and Norah Parham, husband George Wayne Stewart, daughter Sharon Kemp, brother JW Parham, and sister Wilma Peters.
She is survived by her son George Stewart and wife Michelle of McMinnville, OR; daughter, Laura Loe and husband Jim of Odessa; five grandchildren, Brittany Snyder and husband Shannon of Odessa; David Kemp and wife Dawn of Houston, Rebecca Jones and husband Christopher of Odessa; Brian Loe and wife Casey of Odessa; Rachelle Stewart of McMinnville, OR; and six great-grandchildren.
