One of God’s brightest star took his place in the sky on September 19, 2020. Andrew Jakob Nading’s light first touched our lives on June 15, 2001. To meet Andrew was to meet a new friend, a friend for life. He lived to love, to laugh and to bring joy to every person that he came across. Our ‘Wero’ was life personified.

Andrew graduated from Odessa High School in June 2019. He had plans to pursue a degree and career in Sports Medicine. Whether he was hanging with his friends, working with his Grandpa or spending time by the lake with his family, Andrew was smiling and laughing. He always wanted the people around him to have joy, to be cared for and to feel loved.

He is preceded in death by his cousins Bevanie Wade & Gloria Marie Alvarez and his Tio Lewis Martinez. He is survived by his parents, Wade and Erika Nading, brothers Christen Nading and Nicholas Nading, Godbrother Marco Martinez, Godsisters Kloe Martinez & Karolina Ramirez, Grandparents Armando & Cruz Martinez all of Odessa, as well as Grandmother Celia Hollon of Abilene. He had a plethora of uncles, aunts and cousins that loved and cherished him.

While we grieve the loss of his bright light, we rejoice in Andrew getting to reunite with Jesus in heaven. His family will forever be grateful for every person that loved our Andrew.

For you formed my inward parts: you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works: my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your books were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. Psalms 139:13-16

Our family instantly fell in love with those big blue eyes! I had the privilege of watching him and his brothers grow up as a baby sat them. At the time it seemed they’d be little forever and then all of a sudden they had all graduated high school. I remember having that moment with Andrew realizing how much he had matured and grown when I stood next to him for a picture and he was taller than me. When did that happen I thought! With me he was gentle spoken, respectful and sweet . There are so many memories so dear to me about Andrew. Taking him to Mexico as a baby, watching him play football and for a while when he played the trumpet. But I have to say my favorite experience was witnessing him get baptized in Jesus name! I loved taking all my nieces and nephews with me to church. Seeing him pray at the alter and hearing those words come out of his mouth “tia Nana I want to be baptized” and witness Andrew except Jesus Christ into his heart that day and Witness his salvation. It is the absolute most beautiful memory I will ever have of him and I am So grateful to had witness it! And in this sorrowful moment that we have to say goodbye to him here on earth I am also filled with peace knowing because of the choice Andrew made for salvation he is with our Savior in eternity now. I love you Wero.

Andrew would always stop to say hello. We would be in the oddest places and he would see us from across the room, come straight away to say hello, give hugs, and say he loved us.
He was such a sweet and caring person, such a wonderful person to know, you just felt better after seeing him, felt happy after talking to him. My heart breaks for the family, not just for losing a son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, but for losing a light. The world will be a dimmer without him.

I've known Andrew since 1st grade. We went to Goliad together, and I had the privilege to be asked to go to Hays with him and a few other classmates as well. He was always very sweet to me, even though I didn't have many friends. Andrew was one of the smartest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. I hope his family finds peace. I know he will be dearly missed.
