Anna Jo Wallace, 86, peacefully passed from this life in the early morning hours May 1, 2015. Her family and friends knew her as a symbol of strength and poise. She was sharp as a tack and as kind as they come.
She was born March 17, 1929 in Elkins, West Virginia to Josephine and Odward Saffel. She married her high school sweetheart Wilson Ray “Red” Moore May 6, 1946 and moved to Rittman, Ohio to start her family. The young couple had three children and began work building a new home when Red passed away in 1965.
She worked two jobs to make ends meet while completing the work on her house. During this time, she taught her family the value of hard work and a selfless attitude.
She married Edgar "Ed" Wallace August 2, 1969 and they lived happily until his death in 1982.
After retiring, she moved to Texas in 2000 to be near her son and his family. She was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church and later Crossroads Fellowship. She attended Retro Sunday school class and joined her many sweet friends to fellowship and play games at Primetime on Tuesdays.
She is preceded in death by her parents, first and second husbands, infant son Orlando Ray Moore, and a sister Caroline Lorey.
She is survived by her brother Bob Saffell and his wife Regina; half-siblings Betty Azar; Michael Burrell, Bonnie Herrold and husband Phil, Mary Pava and husband Frank; and brother in law Leonard Lorey; her daughter Nancijo Moore, son Bob Moore and wife Connie, son David Moore and wife Jan; her grandchildren Mindy Wendt and husband Jeff, Andy Moore, Casey Moore, Lacy Jo Howard and husband Bill, Kelly Breakie and her husband Trent, Kevin Moore and his wife Sammy. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren Taylor Jo Moore, Rory Moore, Wintery Rose Martinue, Josh Wendt and Brad Wendt.
Visitation with family & friends will be 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday, May 7, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am. Friday, May 8, 2015 at Crossroads Fellowship with Rev. David Newton officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Although she will be so greatly missed, she will live on in the resiliency she has passed on to her family and friends. She has taught us all to be strong, kind, and generous and we will continue to be so for generations to come.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
