Benjamin Henry Lippe, a wonderful husband and father left the confines of the earth to enter into the mansions of heaven on February 1, 2017 at the age of 91. This wonderful transfer to the Church Triumphant was made possible, not by the works of Ben, but by the redeeming grace of Jesus Christ, our risen Lord and Savior. Ben was a wonderful father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born on March 13, 1925 in Mills County Texas to Fritz Henry Lippe (1886-1961) and Annie Johanna (Bufe) Lippe (1888-1992). He was one of 12 children born to Fritz and Annie. His sisters Joe Ann Gholson, Lydia Schluter, Annie Lippe, Velma Bretting and Martha Hosum preceded him in death. His brothers, John and Fritz also preceded him in death. Ben contributed to many people’s lives through his love of his family, his work for the Lord, his work as a machinist at Sunshine Iron works and Martel Machine Shop, an inspector at Rexene, and as crossing Guard at Cameron Elementary. Ben proudly served in the army after World War II as a cook in Japan. He often spoke of the eventful trip to Japan on the ship named Marshall Victory. Ben was also active in his Lutheran churches (Redeemer, Good Shepherd and Emmanuel) over the years serving as teacher, elder and many other ways. His love of the Lord was especially evident in the Bible studies he often conducted with his family after dinner. He also enjoyed making wind chimes, bird houses and crosses. Ben is survived by his loving, caring wife of 66 years, Lillie Rose (Meissner) Lippe. He is also survived by his loving children: Daniel Lippe of Houston and his wife, Sharon and granddaughters, Caitlin Sansing and her husband Greg and Lisa Armstrong and her husband Brian; Charlotte (Lippe) Schuman of Missouri City, Texas and her husband, Fred and grandsons, David Schuman and Jonathan Schuman; Phyllis (Lippe) Hartman of Houston and her husband, Mark and grandchildren, Nathan Hartman and Sarah Abasov and her husband, Anar, and great grandchild, Aaron; Byron Lippe of Smithfield, Pennsylvania and his wife, Darla and grandsons, Jesse Lippe and Zachery Lippe and greatgrandchild Eve. His siblings, Lena Teinert, Martin Lippe (and wife Elsie), Katie Richards and Ruth Cleckler (and husband John) and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. He is also survived by his loved extended family through his wife and brothers: Melvin Meissner, Fred and Paula Meissner, Ada and Gene Hill, Ruth Lippe, and Dora Mae Lippe. A special thanks to his church family at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Odessa and the wonderful care at The Parks Senior Living in Odessa. The funeral in celebration of Ben’s Life will be February 11, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Odessa, Texas. The service will be conducted by Pastor Loudenback. In lieu of flowers a donation in Ben’s name to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Odessa or the Lutheran Hour, or Hospice of Odessa is requested by the family Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
