BERTHA L. DORANBertha L. Doran, 91, of Odessa passed away Friday, July 24, 2009 at her residence. She was born January 31, 1918 in Waring, Texas the daughter of Simon Peter & Susan Bertha Tomlinson. She attended elementary school through the seventh grade at Waring, Texas. She then attended Comfort High School for one year, finishing her school years at Brady High School, Brady, Texas. She attended the University of Texas in Austin.She met and married Ace G. Doran in 1940. While her husband served for four years in the Ninth Air Force, she worked helping her family in their business. Ace was discharged from the service in October, 1945.They moved to Brady, Texas where their son, John Hilton was born, March 21, 1947. They moved to Odessa, TX in 1952. They placed their membership in the First Christian Church. She held positions including past president of the Christian Women’s Fellowship, Church Deaconess and choir member. She was elected Deacon Emeritus by her congregation.She was preceded in death by her husband on December 14, 2003, and her parents. She is survived by her son Dr. John Doran of Odessa.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2009 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Steve Digby officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund.Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
