Bessie (Becky) Porter

In 1952, she married James Porter in Seneca, SC, and later moved to Odessa, TX in 1967.

She was a nurse and worked at Medical Center Hospital for over 20 years. She loved her patients and made many lasting friendships. She loved working with doctors whom she helped do many procedures on the floor. She retired in 1986 due to health-related reasons.

She loved to go fishing, hunting, and working in her yard. She loved the Lord and was a faithful, kind, caring woman who was loved by her family and many others who knew her.

Bessie is preceded in death by her parents Joe & Jewel Eades, husband James Porter, and four brothers, Ben, Marshall, James & William, along with her four sisters, Mae, Gladys, Ruth, and Patty. She is survived by her two siblings Pat Deal of Seneca, SC, and David & Dorothy Eades of Odessa, TX. She has nine children, Diane & Leon Chastain of Seneca, SC. Larry & Cyndi Porter of Odessa, TX. Lynn & Michael Lambert of Tyler, Debbie & Kevin Adkinson of Odessa, TX, John & Glennia Porter of Tow, TX. Joey & Becky Porter of Kingwood, TX. Sam Porter of Conroe, TX. Dan & Betty Porter of Temple, TX. And Mark & Frankie Porter of Rice, TX. She also had 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Frank Wilson Funeral Home on Monday, March 20, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Graveside services will be at Rose Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 10:00 am.
