June 28, 1943 – April 9, 2018
Wilburn (Bill) L Trotter of Odessa, Texas passed peacefully on Monday evening, 09 APRIL 2018, at the age of 74.
After enlisting prior to his 18th birthday in June 1961, and patriotically serving his country in the USAF, Bill spent 45 years in various leadership roles in the petrochemical industry. The career achievements he cherished most were the accomplishments made by the individuals he was honored and humbled to lead. It was lovingly noted at his retirement party by his employees (to the tune of Elvis Presley), “We did it Bill’s Way”! While really never retiring - continuing to consult into his seventies, his faith, music and golf were passions he shared with his children and grandchildren. A Loving Spouse, Father, Grandfather and cherished sibling, he will be missed. He is survived by his Spouse of 30 years, Cheryl Juby Trotter, his children Michael and Ally Trotter, Mark Trotter, and Craig and Rebekah Trotter, and five grandchildren; in addition to his siblings Linda Whittington, Sandra Trotter, Paul Trotter and Stephen Trotter. Bill is predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Leta Trotter, and his siblings, Dolores Clark, Darl Trotter and Roger Trotter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to West Texas Gifts of Hope (The Hope House), 700 W 1st St, Odessa, TX 79761, website: westtexasgiftsofhope.org Service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel, 2:00 pm. My deepest Condolences on the loss of your loved one. May the Lord welcome him with open arms and watch over his family always.
In working with Bill it was a privilege, he was very welcoming, humble and a man to look up too. As a role model in the business place, he showed me nothing but positivity in the business place and made it very enjoyable. I thank him for words of encouragement and the opportunities he fostered in the workplace, as my experience in life as well in the business place with Bill were always good and one of good learning experience since when I first met him. He encouraged innovation and was not afraid to take a chance on people their ideas for those show were willing and showed honest interest. I always remember, walking into his office always felt very professional he always had it very well organized and clean, it was inspiring to me since a young adult then. He was a great leader of encouragement. May God be with him always and watch over his family. My prayers are with him and his family.
