Carl Allen Fowler

November 12, 1936June 10, 2018

Carl Allen Fowler was born on November 12, 1936 in Elgin, IL. On June 10, 2018 we lost Carl at the age of 81. Carl was a resident of Odessa, TX at the time of his death. Carl left home at 17 years of age on a trip to keep moving forward “until he got warm”. That trip ended in Monahans, TX where he met the love of his life, Annie Lou, whom he married in 1955. He spent his working life in the trucking industry, always making sure his wife and three children were properly cared for. During his adult life, Carl’s most passionate interest was deer hunting. He spent the bulk of his vacation time each year on his Ozona deer lease with family and close friends. There was no greater joy for Carl than heading out in the early morning in his army jeep to pursue his passion. As the sun was setting in this daily winter ritual, he coveted welcoming in the evening with a campfire and bbq over the open grill and sharing stories of adventure of times past. Although he celebrated these days with some isolation from his family, they knew they were always welcomed and made special memories when taking him up on that offer. As an avid reader, Carl also loved seeking adventure through the stories in westerns written by the likes of Louis Lamour. In his quiet moments, you would either find Carl in his comfortable chair taking in a good book, monitoring the coming natural events on the weather channel, while awaiting his next guest to reminisce about times of old and share a good joke. Carl is survived by his sister Carolyn Gnavi of Blue Springs, Missouri; daughters, Carla Fulton of Odessa, TX; grandsons Ty and Zach Fulton of Odessa, TX; Laura Brown of Boerne, TX; granddaughter Demi Carrier of Dayton, TX as well as six great grandchildren. Carl will join his beloved wife, Annie Lou, in eternity at their burial plot at Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery. He will be laid to rest with a graveside service with family and close friends on Thursday morning, June 14th, 2018 at 10:00 am. Visitation will be available at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for anyone interested. In lieu of flowers or other offerings, the family is requesting your prayers for comfort and peace.
