

Carl Pendergrass, age 99, longtime resident of Odessa went to be with his Lord on October 25, 2014. He grew up in Coleman County and attended school in Novice, TX, where he graduated in 1932. He served in the US Army Air Force during World War II from 1942 – 1945.
Carl met and fell in love with his future wife Zelda Riley, they were married March 7, 1947 and made their home in Coleman, TX. During the 1950’s oil boom in Odessa he was offered employment with Pursley Lumber Co. He moved with his family to Odessa in 1950. In 1986 he retired from White House Lumber Co.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Zelda. He was the loving father of seven children, Pam Holsey & husband Bill of Ft. Worth, Mike Pendergrass of Wolfforth, TX, Kay Pendergrass and companion David Dinkela of Odessa, Jan Hamilton & husband George of Marble Falls, Pat Gable of Cedar Park, Kent Sparks & wife Judy of Lake Brownwood, & Linda Erwin & husband Joe of Odessa. He was the proud PawPaw of nine grandchildren, Fourteen great-grandchildren, & two great, great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express deep appreciation to Callie and Olga of Star Home Health, and to Pete and Lillian Collum, Helen Jones, and Edith Koerlin for their compassionate devoted care.
Visitation with family and friends will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with Dan Brock officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
