Carlton Ray Maynard

July 21, 1937March 21, 2014

Ray Maynard born July 21, 1937, in Kilgore, Texas, went to be with the Lord Friday March 21, 2014. Ray will be remembered for his long time service as Captain of the Odessa Fire Department. He was a member of Crossroads Fellowship Church.

He is survived by his by his wife Donna Maynard; sons; Rodney Maynard and wife Karen of Irving, TX, Sidney Maynard and wife Verlena of Avant, OK, Robert Holt and wife Leigh of Arlington, TX, and Brad Holt and wife Beverly of Ft. Worth, TX. Daughter; Debbie Otts and husband Jason of Rio Rancho, NM, brothers; Jack Maynard of Odessa, TX and Kenneth Maynard of Granite Shoals, TX, sisters; Linda Harris and Joyce Seymour both of Boise, ID. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Jeremy Maynard and wife Shannon, Natalie Ashmore and husband Brent, Bethany Maynard, Tara Holt, & Whitney Holt, and great-granddaughter Shelby Maynard. He will be truly missed and loved.

He is preceded in death by his parents Linton Carl Maynard and Nila Roberts Maynard, his brother Charles Maynard, and Freda Martin Maynard, his first wife of 24 years.

Services will be held 2pm March 24, 2014 at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with David Newton officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements under the direction of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors, Odessa, TX.

The first time I remember seeing Ray, he brought Rodney to the house to pick up Karen for their first date (since Rodney couldn't drive yet). I don't know too many Dads, even today, that would do that. Our prayers are with all of you.

What can I say! You were such a wonderful man to my mother (especially) and all around you. I am so thankful you were a part of my life and really loved that we were able to share day to day with you for 4 months and being taught to cook. :-) You will be greatly missed!!
