Celia Castelo Lujan, lovingly known as "Beeta," passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, at the age of 89. She was born on October 25, 1939, and made her home in Odessa, Texas, where she built a life centered on family and love.
Beeta earned her special nickname because the children in the family could not pronounce "Abuela." The name stayed with her throughout her life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew her.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved fishing, camping, and spending time at the beach, where she felt most at peace. She also adored her beloved pet, Lucky. One of her greatest blessings was her treasured friendship with Gloria Bowie, whose bond remained close through the years.
Celia is lovingly survived by her sister, Margaret Ramos; her four grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will continue through each generation of her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Gloria Vasquez; her parents, Librada Guerra and Alberto Lujan; her brothers, Joe Castelo, affectionately known as "Sonny," and Alberto Lujan Jr., known as "Blacky"; and her sisters, Luisa Lujan and Socorro Rivas.
Although she is no longer with us, the love Beeta shared, the memories she created, and the example she set will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
May she rest in eternal peace.
A Memorial Service celebrating Celia's life will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 3:00 pm at Odessa Funeral Home.
