Charlie was born in Odessa, Texas, on November 25, 1967, to Carlos and Paula Marquez. He graduated from Odessa High School with the Class of 1986 and went on to build a life marked by hard work, deep faith, and unwavering love for his family.
On June 27, 1997, Charlie married the love of his life, Trish Barnett. From the moment they met, it was love at first sight. They shared 28 wonderful years together, filled with laughter, partnership, and devotion.
Charlie began his career at Saulsbury Electric in 1986, working as an industrial electrician until 1999. He then joined Compressor Systems Inc., where he installed electrical equipment on gas compressors and later became a project foreman. In 2022, he continued his work in the industry by joining ArchRock, where he specialized in troubleshooting and installing electrical systems on natural gas compression equipment. Charlie’s strong work ethic and expertise left a lasting impression on everyone he worked with.
A faithful member of First Odessa Church, Charlie found joy in the simple things: spending time in the mountains of Colorado, fishing with loved ones, and exploring the beauty of nature. He had a special place in his heart for the Smoky Mountains and cherished every opportunity to travel—especially his cruises, with Alaska being a favorite destination.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Trish Marquez; his children, Melissa Marquez, Jesse Paredes, and Becky Paredes; and his grandchildren, Alex Bejaran, Faith Bell, Brittney Paredes, Jesse Paredes Jr., and Jacob Paredes. He was also blessed with three—soon to be four—great-grandchildren. He is lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law, Chyrele D. Barnett; his brothers, Chris (Julie), Greg (Letty), and David (Mari); his sister, Monica (Matthew); his brother-in-law, Marty Barnett; his sister-in-law, Debbie Barnett; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos E. and Paula C. Marquez, and his father-in-law, Stanley H. Barnett.
A visitation will be held at Frank Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 21st, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A celebration of Charlie’s life will take place at First Odessa Church on Thursday, May 22nd, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse, a cause close to Charlie’s heart.
The Marquez family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the friends and loved ones who supported them with prayers and kindness throughout Charlie’s battle with cancer. A heartfelt thank you goes to the Wholesale Electric Supply of Houston family for the love, encouragement, and care they showed during this difficult journey.
Charlie’s warmth, strength, and faith-filled spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
