Cory Linn Gatlin

Cory Linn Gatlin, 29, of Odessa passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born June 13, 1984 in Odessa, TX to Eddie Eugene and Pamela Jo Gatlin. He was self-employed in the lawn care business and a devout member of Westwood Baptist Church.

Cory faithfully served Westwood in many areas, but his passions were attending to the grounds and helping with children’s ministry. Despite many illnesses and special needs, he helped without complaint and much enthusiasm. His joy for life was contagious, and his love of people and animals was unconditional and an inspiration to all he met.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Olen Halbert; paternal grandparents W.E. Gatlin and wife Agnes. He is survived by his parents, Eddie and Pamela Gatlin of Odessa; brother Christopher Todd Gatlin and wife Nikki of Midland; brother Christian Scott Gatlin of Odessa; sister Courtney Dawn Mohesky of Odessa; grandmother Lucille Halbert of Odessa; his special four-legged friend Maggie; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00pm Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, March 14, 2014 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with Revs. Weeks Dubose and Jerry Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Westwood Baptist Church for the Cory Gatlin Memorial Fund.
