Cristeena Nelson Meyer

Cristeena N. Meyer, 95, passed away Monday, November 26, 2012 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born November 3, 1917 near Direct, TX to John Ernest & Jeffa Nelson. She married Dale Wilson Meyer September 19, 1936 in Oklahoma City, OK. They were blessed with one son, Gary D. Meyer on October 28, 1937. She graduated with the Spring Class of 1937 at the age of nineteen as the youngest member of the class. She was also the only member to have all of her schooling at Central State Teacher College and the Training School. She then went on to be a teacher in Edmond, OK. The family moved to Odessa in 1947 because Dale was transferred with his job for Olson Drilling. They later had the opportunity to start their own business, Dale Meyer Trucking Company in 1951. She helped run the company until their retirement in 1989.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale W. Meyer & son, Gary D. Meyer.

She is survived by her sister, Jeanne Thornburg of Fresno, CA, & (4) grandchildren, Nino Meyer & wife Sheryl of Odessa, Jeanne Bopp of Albuquerque, NM, Juli TaFoya & husband Pat of Austin, Kimberly Gibson & husband Mark of Spicewood, TX, (4) great-grandchildren, Dylan & Shannan Meyer, Madison TaFoya & Miles Gibson, sister-in-law, Phyllis Meyer of Fort Collins, CO, daughter-in-law, Linda E. Meyer of Odessa, several nieces, nephews and many friends.

There will be a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
