David R. Elkins

Dave Elkins age 90 of Odessa, TX passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 at Brookdale Senior Living (Sherwood Place).

He was born December 22, 1924 in Gainesville, Texas to Robert and Nellie (Kuykendall) Elkins. He worked in the oilfield all of his life. He loved to work around his church, in his yard, and just work in General. He loved to help his neighbors and family and enjoyed spending time with his dog Kathy. He also loved feeding the birds and sitting in his yard visiting with his friend Bobby. Dave was a sweet man.

Preceded in death are his parents, his wife Mary Elkins, and sons Eddie & Al Allen.

He is survived by sons David W. Elkins and wife Judy of Odessa, James Allen and wife Becky of Yorktown, Indiana; his brother Robert Elkins of Odessa. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Shane, Shawn, Kristen, Angela, Roberta, Jeanna, Desiree, and 11 great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Compass Hospice and Brookdale Senior Living (Sherwood Place) for their hospitality in caring for Dave.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 23, 2015 from 6pm-8pm at Frank W. Wilson. A Funeral service will be held at 11 am Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel with David Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Dave’s honor can be made to Compass Hospice in Odessa.
