

David Woodrow Leach, 97, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born July 21, 1913 in Caney, Kansas. He attended grade school and high school in Caney. He graduated from Kansas State College and Northern Illinois College of Optometry. He married Kathleen Gibbs on December 27, 1936. They moved to Odessa in 1940 and Woodrow started his own optometric practice.
Woodrow was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Odessa. He was chairman of the Board of Stewards of the Church in 1942. He joined the Odessa Downtown Lions Club in 1941 and served as President in 1955/1956. He was appointed to the Salvation Army Board in 1956 where he served as President and Treasurer. He was on the Ector County School Board from 1956 to 1962 and served as President in 1961.
His wife, Kathleen, a son, James Leach and a grandson, Bobby Bayless preceded him in death.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon O’Dell of Andrews and Nancy Bayless of Phoenix, AZ, (6) grandchildren: (13) great-grandchildren and (4) great-great-grandchildren,
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel with Jody Wallen officiating.
The family suggests memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.
