

Ray was born on April 5, 1960, in Brownfield, Texas to Carl and Bertie Holcombe. Shortly after graduating from Brownfield High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Ray proudly served as an Aviation Mace First Class and was qualified as an Aviation Warfare Specialist. He also, obtained his Navy Flight Certificate in 1988 and went on to become a recruiter in 1989.
After the military, Ray worked for Baker Hughes and raised his family with his wife Ellie, in the Odessa area. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, traveling with Ellie, and riding his Harley. Ray also, had a love of food and cooking anything and everything for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved being surrounded by his family, most of all his grandchildren!
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, brother Albert Holcombe, and sisters Mary Ann Taylor and Sue Anne Holcombe.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Eloisa "Ellie" Holcombe; children, Jason Thornhill, Shaun Duncan, Sarina Smith, Andrea Fierro (Omar), Lacey Watts; 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; brothers, Glen Carl, Daniel Holcombe; and nephew, Jerry Collier.
A visitation for Ray will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, 601 N Alleghaney Ave, Odessa, Texas, 79761. A memorial service will occur Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
