

Donald K. Minshew, 73 of Odessa went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Visitation will be held at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa on Friday from 5:00-7:00pm, a funeral service will be held on Saturday August 27 at 2:00pm at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home at 601 N. Allegheny Ave in Odessa Texas. He will be laid to rest in Colorado City Cemetery at a later date. Don was born August 1, 1943 in Dallas to Charlie and Luline Minshew, he attended Odessa Permian High School and spent most of his life in Odessa and Colorado City. Don worked for Continental Trailways in Dallas, he owned a glass company in Colorado City, and spent many years in the Odessa oil fields before buying the 10-4 Lounge which he has owned for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Don's greatest joy was his family and friends. He is survived by his two daughters, Tracy Meek of Georgetown TX and Donnell Nicks of Lemoore Ca and granddaughter Emily Nicks of Lemoore Ca, his brother Roy Minshew and wife of Georgetown Texas, sister CJ Callaway of Ft Worth and several nieces and nephews. His extended family included his best friend and business partner Mendy Goodson and her children Miranda and Jerian and special friend of many years Carla Edmiaston of Kerrville. Don was a Mason and member of the Order of the Eastern Star, as were his mother and father. He was a very proud, active and supporting member of the El Maida Shrine Temple and the Odessa Shrine club. Don was the Transportation Coordinator and very passionate about assisting children and families to and from doctor and hospital appointment at the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Houston and the burn center in Galveston. He helped organize several annual Shriner fundraisers events including a Hockey Weekend with the Odessa Jackalopes where he and friends proudly delivered a large donation each year to the Houston or Galveston Hospitals. Don had a love for old cars and a nice little collection of his own. The 1936 Ford truck was his favorite and he could be seen driving around Odessa in it or in his baby blue 1961 Corvette convertible. He participated with the Odessa Shrine club in local parades every year all over West Texas and including Ruidoso New Mexico. Don made friends everywhere he went and will truly be missed by the lives he touched. The family would like you to join them after the service at the 10-4 Lounge located at 5619 N. Golder for a celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital in Galveston, TX.
