

was born November 17, 1931, in Pioneer, TX, to John Freeman and Minta Leveridge (Taylor) Tollerson. At the age of 14, her family moved to McLeod, TX, where she graduated high school in 1949. She then attended business college in Shreveport, LA. She moved to Odessa in the mid 1950’s, working in the freight line industry where she met and married Edgar Holmes Keese January 19, 1957, at her parents’ home in Odessa.
Dorothy is also known as Sister and Mawmaw and being fiercely independent, strong-willed and always in charge, she earned the nickname of “The Boss” from her grandchildren. She took great pride in her family and was proud to be a homemaker. She was an enthusiastic fan of her grandchildren. She attended all of their extracurricular activities whether it was choir, tennis, gymnastics, soccer, basketball, baseball, boy scouts and especially football. She was the loudest fan there supporting all of “her kids.”
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Edgar Holmes Keese, three brothers John Jr “Frankie,” and twins Eldon “Pinkie,” and Weldon Tollerson.
She is survived by her daughters Cheryl Keith and husband Larry, Paula Dykstra and husband Kent, all of Odessa, five grandchildren Chryste Calvert, Taylor Keith and wife Sarah, Jonathan Dykstra and wife Bailie, Cody Dykstra, and Alyssa Dykstra; great-granddaughter Maci Keith, and two nieces Sherry and Susan Moore.
Family will meet with friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Rev. Clydel Chapman and Chaplain Dr. Jimmie Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
