Edna Fletcher

Edna Earl (Eddie) Fletcher, of Odessa died February 13, 2014 at the age of 97. She was born December 16, 1916 to Charlie F. Withers and Tirzah Melton Withers in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Eddie married Leonard W. Jones in 1939 and moved to Odessa in 1948. Mr. Jones died in 1951 and Eddie went to work for Oilwell Supply Company where she was the voice of Oilwell as their receptionist and PBX operator until her retirement. She married Merle L. Fletcher on September 1, 1973. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle, a sister, Lorraine Withers Furgerson. Eddie is survived by a nephew, C. E. “Buddy” Furgerson and wife Beth of Lubbock; their children Paige Furgerson Sawyer and husband Rick, Cindy Furgerson Schmidt and husband Joe and their children Jackson and Kinley Schmidt. She is also survived by Merle's niece Sherry Smith and husband Butch of Kerrville, Texas and nephew Jerry Fletcher and wife Gayla of Bowie, Texas. The family wishes to thank Irma Jaramillo, Jack and Jean Lee, Bobby and Amanda Mancha, Angie Doty and George and Maggie Gomez for their friendship, support and care of “Miss Eddie”. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17th at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Donations to Hospice House Foundation, 903 N. Sam Houston, Odessa, Texas are suggested in lieu of flowers.
