My dad and Mr. Langham taught together many years ago. I have a picture of both of our families at Six Flags back in 1974 or so.  Over the years anytime I'd see Mr. Langham he'd always stop and visit.  He was a wonderful soul and he will be missed.

Mr Langham was my favorite teacher at hood. He cared so much about his students. After I left school I would see him often and he still remembered me and would talk to me and my kids. He was such an amazing person. He will be deeply missed.

Our favorite memories about Ed Langham have to do with his lighthearted humor, his adventurous spirit, and his ability to make anyone feel comfortable. 

We used to go camping with Ed and Nancy and another couple of friends while we were teaching together at Hood Jr. High. While camping once at a state park, Bryan and I were warming a can of chili over the blazing campfire. Bryan would reach over and hold the can with a pair of pliers while I reached in and stirred with a spoon ... each of us singeing the hair on our arms, and yelping about how hot it was. After a brief time of this discomfort, Ed said, "You know, you might want to just pull the can off the fire, stir the chili, then put it back on ... just a suggestion." 

He was the type of person who would go into a restaurant and try a dish he had never had before. He always wanted to try something new, then savor the flavor with every bite ... literally and figuratively, in everything he did.

Wherever we might go, someone seemed to know Ed. He would  easily walk up and talk to a stranger and after that, they knew Ed Langham. Ed was a gentle bear of a man; my wife Kathy and I will miss him very much ... very much indeed!
