Ernesto Morales

Ernesto “Choco” Morales was born November 23, 1946 in Durango, Mexico to the late Julia (Rocha) and Reymundo Morales.

Choco was raised in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua where he married his first wife, Soledad Palomares. They moved to Las Cruces, NM where they had seven sons. In 1992, he moved to Odessa and married his second wife, Maria Margarita Gonzalez on August 8, 2008. He was a truck driver and conjunto musician for over 60 years. He worked at Holloman as a construction pipe layer. Choco had an amazing voice, played the accordion, bass and the chello (AKA “tololoche”). He was very funny and was always smiling and joking. He was always very well dress and always ready to dance and MC at family events. Ernesto gave his heart to Jesus and was baptized on October 16, 2005 and was a devoted, generous Christian.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Margarita Morales of Odessa; sons, Juan, Reymundo, Carlos, Jose “Pepe”, Marcos, Ricardo “Ritchie”, and Luis Morales, all of Las Cruces, NM; stepsons, Juan Jose, Jorge Arturo, and Jose Perez, Jr., all of Odessa; stepdaughter, Rhonda Perez of Odessa and Olga Rodriguez of Dallas; brother, Dario Morales of Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Pedro and Jose Morales; and sister, Ernestina Morales.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 4-8 PM at Odessa Funeral Home. There will be a Rosary at La Paz-Graham’s Funeral Home in Las Cruces, NM on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 7 PM. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 10 AM at St. Albert the Great in Las Cruces followed by interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Las Cruces.
