Faith Hope Hotchkin

Faith was born March 6, 1934, in Pontiac, Michigan to John B. Schurman and Violet Waldie Schurman. She graduated from Pontiac High School in 1952 and attended Michigan State University.

Faith married Jerrold L. Hotchkin, April 23, 1953 in Lansing, Michigan where they resided until moving to Bath, Michigan in 1961. They moved to Andrews, Texas in 1968 and soon after they opened a small carpet business together. In 1980 they became pastors at Faith Christian Outreach in west Odessa where they ministered to the community. Faith had always wanted to be a missionary and in 1990 they began full time evangelism, traveling across the United States, Mexico, Jamaica, Albanian, Pakistan and India spreading the gospel until Jerrold’s death in 2005. Faith then began substitute teaching for Ector County ISD where she enjoyed being around the younger generation. She joined a teacher’s organization “Kappa, Kappa Iota” in 2005. Faith traveled across the country to the State and National Conventions with her daughter.

Faith had a love for Jesus, compassion for people, reading, watching movies, sharing the gospel, and a gift for prayer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerrold Hotchkin, her parents John Schurman and Violet Waldie Pinner.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three children; Patrice Smith and husband Brad of Odessa and Robert Hotchkin and wife Nancy of Corpus Christi, and John Hotchkin and wife Beth of Hawley; grandchildren Charles Hotchkin (Kendra), Matthew Johansen (Brittany), John Hotchkin (Yvette), Jared Hotchkin (Bonnie), Julie McNally (David), Jim Hotchkin (Christina), Melanie Koen (Derek); and 18 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Faith will be held Monday, July 21, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Odessa Funeral Home, 1700 North Jackson, Odessa, TX 79761. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Odessa Funeral Home.
