As a young girl, she was a migrant farmer following seasonal harvest throughout Texas and New Mexico. With these experiences, she found her love for gardening. Some of her other favorite pastimes included; knitting, baking and playing with her family. She would knit everything imaginable including dresses, blankets, handkerchiefs etc. She loved to bake with her children and grandchildren when they visited her. Mena’s family will always remember her playing tag, hide-n-go seek, hopscotch and other childhood games, she was always young at heart. Her hobbies expressed who she was; nurturing, loving and graceful. She was the mother and grandmother every child should have. Filomena lived her life serving God and her family. Her smile, laughter, cuddles, and playful spirit will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugenio Vazquez, parents, Alberto and Consuelo Dominguez and sisters, Maria Palomino, Ana Bustamante and Josefina Salazar.
Filomena is survived by her five children, Rosario, Graciela, Gilberto, Elizardo and Carmen; 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and two sisters, Consuelo Garcia, Gudalupe Montoya and son, Jesus Dominguéz.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel.
