

George E. Tacker, 82, of Odessa went to be with his heavenly father January 2, 2014 after a long struggle with cancer. He was born February 6, 1931 in Carson Lake, Arkansas to Ruby & Alfred Tacker, the first of ten children. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Maxine, two sisters, and three brothers, one of whom passed six hours after George.
He first joined the US Navy and then the US Marine Corp where he earned the Purple Heart Medal, the Korean Service Medal with one Star and the United Nations Service Medal.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Patsy McKay Tacker of Odessa, children, Kay Warner, Robert Tacker & Debra Tacker all of Odessa, step-sons, Mark & Steve McKay, brothers, Carl & Butch Tacker both of Brady, TX, sisters, Joyce Tomlin of Odessa, Jenny Duncan of Spearsville, LA, (5) grandchildren, & (5) great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Monday, January 6, 2014 at Life Change Baptist Church, 1000 N. Texas, with Rev. Johnny Thomason officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life of Ector County.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Sudhir Amaram, Dr. Renuka Borra, Dr. John Whitten and the amazing staff of Home Hospice.
