Gilbert Alarcon Marquez Sr.

He enjoyed fishing, camping and was an all-around craftsman and outdoorsman. He actually had a pretty good green thumb. And most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family.

Gilbert Sr. is survived by his five children, Gilbert Marquez, Jr., Gabriel Marquez, Roseann Chaparro, Antonio Trinidad Tijerina and Benjamin Morales; three sisters, Elodia Dominguez, Elfreda Marquez and Olga Marquez; two brothers, Fidel Marquez, Jr. and Mario Marquez; 15 grandchildren; and his many loving nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a son; and his siblings, Antonio Marquez, Hortencia “Tangie” Garcia, Joe Marquez, Betty Najera, Mary Ellen Dutchover and Susanna Marquez.

Public viewing will be Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 1-9 PM and Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 9 AM-9 PM at Odessa Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited Thursday at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine. Burial will follow at Holy Angels Cemetery in Alpine.
