Guadalupe Cura (GC) Medellin, age 96, beloved Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, left to his eternal rest on February 10th, 2020. He was born in Coahuila, Mexico on December 12, 1923 to Marcelino Medellin & Maria De La Luz Cura.
He started working from the age of 9 and into adulthood on different ranches. In later life he owned and managed several Full Service gasoline stations, in particular, Gulf and Chevron stations, for nearly 40 years.
At the age of 70, due to health issues, he retired from the service station business and began working for Walmart, first in Odessa and later in Midland, as a “friendly and cheerful” door greeter. Walmart customers knew him as “GC” and he worked full-time until the age of 92. GC would have continued at Walmart but unavoidable circumstances forced him to resign.
He was a successful man who lived well, laughed often and loved much. He gained the respect of honorable men and the love of children, who filled a special niche in his heart. GC never lacked appreciation for friendships or failed to express it. He always looked for the best in others and gave to all the best of himself.
GC had a big heart for everyone he met and will be nearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
