August 13, 1935 - January 26, 2015
On January 26, 2015, at 12:40 am, Hipolito (Polé) Hernandez went to be with his personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. After struggling with health issues for the past five to six months, he was finally released from all the pain and is waiting in heaven to eventually be reunited with his family.
Pole was born to Tomas and Francisca C. Hernandez on August 13, 1935, in Terlingua, Texas.
How Great and Loving is our Heavenly Father. Pole had been in Lubbock hospitals and rehab centers for the last 5 months. He was transported home by ambulance on the 25th of January. Arrangements were made with Hospice to bring him home for his final hours. The nurse called and told us that once the IVs were removed there was a strong chance he would not make the trip home alive. By the grace of God, Pole showed up at the house wide eyed, alert and was able to recognize everyone around him. After he arrived he had one comment and that was, ”the ambulance ride was a little bumpy.” We were all able to talk to him and let him know how much we loved him. This was not only a blessing from God for him to see his family for the last time, but for us to see and remember him in his right mind. Shortly after 24 hours from our last family get together with him, he was called to take his place in Heaven.
Pole was a Born Again Christian and lived a simple life that was pleasing to our heavenly father. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending mostly all of his time with his wife of 50 years, Esperanza Subia Hernandez. He also enjoyed all his grand kids and great grand kids. On Sunday, his priority was going to church, but if the Dallas Cowboys (God’s Team) were playing the early game, there was no eating out at Furr’s or Golden Corral, but picking up something to eat and taking it home (ASAP).
Pole retired from General Tire and Rubber Co. after 35 years of dedicated service. He loved his job as a fork lift operator for all 35 years employed with the company. His work ethic was not over looked by his superiors. He received many awards for his good work, commitment and dependability. After his retirement, his daily routine included getting up early, reading his Bible, eating his breakfast and stepping outside. He would spend most of his day working on the yard or looking for little projects to keep him busy.
Pole is survived by his loving wife, Esperanza Subia Hernandez, his four brothers: Braulio Milan and Tony Gaspar, Isaac Hernandez, Faustino Hernandez and two sisters Modesta Lujan and Julia Hill. He is also survived by his children: Jaime Subia and wife Sarah, Martha Bullard, Frances Franco and husband Toby, Minnie Johnson and husband Jackie and his grandchildren: James Bullard and wife Erika, Joshua Franco, Yvette Aguirre and husband CJ, Elizabeth Bullard, Justin Bullard, Amaris Marie Subia, Jasmine Portocarrero and husband Jonny, Tomas Franco, Jackie Johnson Jr. and Victoria Marquez, along with his eight Great Grand Children.
