Jewel Marie Walker

Jewel “Marie” Connelly Walker, 96, of McCamey formerly of Odessa went to meet Jesus on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in McCamey. She was born March 27, 1919 in Cross Plains, TX to William Samuel Connelly and Lola Bessie Eastham Connelly .

Marie was the baby of 5 brothers and 4 sisters. She loved Jesus from an early age and loved to play the guitar. She sang and played guitar with her siblings in Church. She attended Hi-Way Temple Assembly of God in Odessa the majority of her adult life. She was a prayer warrior and she always made sure that anyone she came in contact with knew about Jesus. One of her greatest joys was teaching Sunday School. Sister Walker was known by all the little kids to always have animal crackers on hand. She was loved by many generations.

Marie married the love of her life, Willard Griggs Walker on November 15, 1939. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1999. She is also preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, 2 grandsons, Shane Clark & Cory Finley & great-granddaughter, Amber Finley.

She is survived by her 6 children: sons, Carroll & wife Frances of Odessa, Bobby & wife Jan of Odessa, Glen & wife Gayla of McCamey, Lyndon & wife Joyce of McCamey, Michael & wife Cindy of Austin, daughter, Darlene Roche of McCamey, (17) grandchildren, (49) great-grandchildren, (33) great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces & nephews.

Our greatest joy is knowing that she is walking on streets of Gold with her husband, her beloved grandsons and granddaughter, her parents and all of her siblings.

A visitation with family will be 3:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 29, 2016 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jon Sharp officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
