Dean was born to Jim and Dewell (Smith) Shepherd in Snyder, Texas. She graduated from Snyder High School, and loved to dance. Around 1950, she met her first husband, Winford "Lee" Tindol at a local dance. They married in 1952 and started a family shortly after.
In 1960, they moved to Odessa where Lee looked after ranches and worked at oil fields, while Dean took care of their home and was very involved in her children's lives. The family spent most of their time together outdoors, riding horses, and camping. Dean was even the treasurer for The Little Britches Riding Club, which was a lot of fun! Her door was always open to the neighborhood children, and she would always have sweet tea and fudge or divinity for a special treat. She was, also, a devoted member of the Sherwood church of Christ, since 1960, and made some of her best friends there.
Dean always loved to dance and would take the whole family to the 'Stampede" in Big Spring for fun. She even met her second husband, Dealon Stanley at a Seniors dance in 2017. She loved Western Movies and Country Music, especially Merle Haggard who she saw live in 2018. Her favorite place was Viola's Beauty Salon, where she met up with all her friends. She will be remembered for the time time spent visiting with those she loved.
Special gratitude Deonna Cates, her care-giver and best buddy. Thank you for taking such great care of our Mom, even playing her favorite music in earbuds, until the very end.
Dean is preceded in death by her husbands, Winford Lee Tindal and Dealon Stanley, her parents, and brother Ernest Franklin Shepherd.
