Jimmy was born on April 25, 1959, in Brownfield, Texas, to the late Bernice Elanora (Bartley) and Ovid Nelson Stanton. He was a graduate of Odessa High School and spent much of his younger years traveling the world, working alongside bands and setting up and maintaining their electronics. His passion for electronics eventually led him to a career as an electronics technician.
Jimmy was a one-of-a-kind person who left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He had a heart of gold and was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. He never hesitated to help someone in need and would do anything he could for anyone, at any time. His generosity, kindness, and willingness to lend a helping hand were simply part of who he was.
Jimmy's life was filled with stories, adventures, and people he met along the way. Whether traveling the world with bands or helping a friend, he had a way of making his presence known and his absence deeply felt. He will be remembered not only for the work he did, but for the kindness he showed and the lives he touched.
Jimmy is survived by his brothers, Eddie Stanton and his wife, Beth, of Odessa, and Troy Stanton of Mineral Wells; his companion, Donna and her children, Mary and Karen; and his nieces and nephews, Mandy, Brandon, Alexandra, Nicholas, and Christopher, who will carry his memory in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice Elanora and Ovid Nelson Stanton; his brother, Johnny Glen ("Glen") Stanton; and his nephew, Zechariah.
Though Jimmy is no longer with us, the kindness he gave so freely and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday October 13, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
