JoAnn (she later shortened her name) was born in Pampa, Texas, on December 28, 1933 to Kay and J.R. Davis. She was one of three children. JoAnn met Wilbur, her husband of 58 years, in Eunice, Texas, and shortly after they married, they moved to Odessa where they raised their three children: Elizabeth, James, and Kathy. JoAnn lived in Odessa for more than 60 years, forming lasting friendships and relationships.
JoAnn was an engaged and enthusiastic member of Northside Baptist Church, Sherwood Baptist Church, and Temple Baptist Church where she passionately lead women’s Bible studies at each for more than 40 years. JoAnn and her husband were instrumental in Operation Blessing during the eighties and Meals on Wheels for many years.
She was a loving mother, grandmother (“Grandma”) and great grandmother (“G.G.”) who texted, emailed and wrote letters until the very end. She loved a good hat, a big Dr. Pepper, the Permian Panthers and, most of all, Jesus.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her brother Charles, her husband Wilbur, and her daughter Elizabeth. She is survived by her sister Stacey Ball and her husband Bill; son James Geeslin and his wife Connie; daughter Kathy Bowles Hughes and her husband David; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
