She was born on November 3, 1930 to Alma Jane Arledge Moore and Fred Eugene Moore in Bowie, Montague County, Texas.
Her father, an accountant, served as cashier for the Bowie bank and the Texas and Pacific Oil & Gas Company in Thurber, Texas. When JoAnn was 3 they moved with the company to Ft. Worth, Texas. JoAnn attended Morningside Elementary, Daggett Junior High and in 1948 graduated Magna Cum Laude from Paschal High School. After graduation, JoAnn became a clerk for the Fort Worth National Bank.
It was around this time that JoAnn met and married her precious husband, Warren Julian Harry, of Waco, who was a Navy veteran and graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Warren and JoAnn were married on February 2nd in the Pastor's' office of First Presbyterian Church and celebrated 65 happy years together.
Warren and JoAnn were both active members of Presbyterian Churches in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Fairborn, Ohio; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Fort Worth, Texas; McKinney, Texas and finally First Presbyterian in Odessa, Texas. While living in Fairborn, Ohio they were blessed with 2 sons. JoAnn was a very active volunteer and member of the Presbyterian Women at every church they attended as well as PTA for both of the boys schools, Boy Scout mom for both sons as well as serving wholeheartedly for Meals on Wheels in Ft. Worth and Odessa. The Harry family supported son David's football endeavors and were active fans of Longhorn and Cowboy football.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Alma and in April 2016 by her loving husband Warren.
She is survived by her sons, David Shelby Harry and wife Deborah of McKinney,Texas and Steven Fred Harry and wife, Carol of Odessa, Texas. She leaves behind 4 grandsons, Jacob Warren Harry and Joshua Daniel Harry of McKinney, Texas, Timothy Steven Harry and wife Ashley of Odessa Texas and Barrett Miller Harry and wife Holly currently serving in the US Army stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. She also leaves behind 7 great grandchildren, Westley Ezekiel Harry: Seth Ryan Harry, Levi Wyatt Harry, Micah Byron Harry, McKinley Rebekah Harry, Everley Jordan Harry and Bailey Madolyn Grace Harry. She also leaves behind her beloved Arledge cousins, Linda Meyer, Jerri Brown and Candy Homsey as well as numerous friends and relatives in Texas and around the United States.
The family would like to thank JoAnn's precious caregiver Lilly Mendez who lovingly took care of JoAnn in these past years of declining health.
Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Odessa on Monday, April 8th at 10:00am with Dr. Byron McWilliams officiating.
