He was married for 60 years to the love of his life Owida, in Bentonville, Arkansas on June 30, 1950. She preceded him in death in August of 2010. He has 3 children, Cheryl, Blake, and Paula and their spouses Dave, Lynn and Todd. 7 grandchildren, April, Jessica, Emily, Jacob, Sarah, Kailee and Kameron and 8 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lauren, Aiden, Addison, Davis, Kincaid, Mina and baby Lockette.
He had an identical twin brother, Max and two younger brothers Howard and Stan.
He and his twin joined the US Navy in 1946 and served on the USS Cabot in World War II. The twins were chosen to be on the Inaugural Honor flight to Washington DC in 2014.
Joe’s occupation carried him thru New Mexico and Arizona before settling in Odessa, Texas in 1969 where he worked for the FAA as an Electronic technician until his retirement in 1990.
Joe loved camping and fly fishing in the White Mountains of Arizona. He loved being with his twin brother and meeting for their “fat pill”, which was coffee and ice cream from the Red Lemon. His favorite saying after every meal was “it’s time for cherry pie and ice cream”.
He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist, where he faithfully served the Lord. He also passed out tracts until he could no longer do so and led many people to salvation.
