Joey Darlene Babcock Brister was born February 11, 1941 in Pampa, Texas to Franklin Babcock and Jessie Byars Babcock. She married Daniel “Danny” Ray Brister on June 18, 1957 on her family’s farm south of Pampa, Texas. Their marriage was rich with love, laughter, and a never-ending bond. June would have been their 60th anniversary. She was a homemaker, family matriarch, and stunning role-model. She was known by her friends and family as being a caring, kind, and gentle-hearted listener. She was warm, charismatic, and filled rooms with positive energy. She lived her life for her family, putting their well-being before her own. She loved traveling, vacations, and staying sharp on politics and the news. She is survived by husband Danny of Odessa; sons, Danny Joe Brister of Porter, Texas, Lanny Dean Brister (and wife Karmen) of Porter, Texas; daughter, Daphne Daylene Stewart of Odessa; sister, Tommie Zuerker (and husband Jack) of Odessa; brothers, Don Babcock (and wife Caron) of Amarillo, and Ronny Babcock (and wife Dee) of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Mike, Austin (and wife Meredith), Matthew (and wife Eva), Amber, and Ryleigh; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Arya; and dozens of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Frank Wilson Funeral Home, 4635 Oakwood Dr., Odessa, Texas (432-368-7191), at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017, officiated by family friend and pastor, Bob Cheek.

I was honored to meet such a strong, kind, sweet, and loving person. I was her nurse on arrival to the emergency room the morning she was admitted to the hospital. I did not know mrs joey until our first meeting that morning. She touched my heart in such a way no one could ever imagine. Thank you God for giving me the opportunity to meet such a beautiful person. Many blessings for family and friends that grieve for we are sad but thank you Heavenly Father for the angel among us.
