Josefa "Josie" Segovia

With love, we honor the life of Josefa “Josie” Almanza Segovia, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, proud great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and faithful Catholic whose unwavering faith, generous heart, and deep love for her family touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Born on March 19, 1938, to Roman Almanza and Delfina Almanza, Josefa lived a life rooted in faith, family, and unconditional love. A devoted Catholic, Josefa’s relationship with Jesus guided her through every season of life. She found strength in prayer, comfort in the Church, and joy in sharing her faith with those around her.

Josefa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dulces Segovia; her son, Larry Segovia; and her daughters, Delma Segovia and Nancy Salazar.

She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Delia Flores and husband Ruben of Odessa, Texas; Sylvia Ortiz and husband Enrique of San Diego, California; Alicia Segura of San Diego, California; Julie Segovia of Odessa, Texas; and Priscilla Llanez and husband George of Odessa, Texas. She is also survived by her sisters, Consuelo Naegele and Lucilla Quiroz.

Josefa’s greatest blessing was her family. She was the proud mother of eight children and was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Each of them brought immeasurable joy to her life.

She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending time at the casino, could happily pass the time playing a game of solitaire, never missed her favorite novelas, and faithfully cheered on her beloved Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. Whether she was enjoying a baseball game, watching football, or spending time with those she loved most, Josefa embraced each day with gratitude, laughter, and a joyful spirit.

Above all else, Josefa treasured her family. Her greatest pride was watching her family grow through the generations. She taught them the importance of kindness, resilience, faith, and staying close to one another. The love she gave so freely will continue to live on in each of us.

Visitation will be held at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. during the visitation.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Father Bernard officiating.

Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
