Josephine "Josie" Lillus Burns, 82, of Odessa passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born January 5, 1929, in Cleburne, TX, to the late Mary Bell Dodson and A.J. Lawrence. Josie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband Kenneth and daughter Linda, who preceded her in death.
She was homemaker who spent much time caring for her children, grandchildren, as well as great-grandchildren. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she was fondly known as "Nanu." Her family was her pride and joy, clearly evident by the multitude of family photographs throughout her home. Generous beyond measure, she was always willing to help others.
She is survived by her son, Eddie Fuller and wife, Dianna of Rainbow, TX; daughters, Darla Nixon of Odessa, and Paula Smeltzer and husband, Chuck of Texarkana, TX. Her grandchildren include Connie, Charlie, Casey, Jonathan, Pam, Joey and Candice. Nanu also had 12 great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
While we know that she has found rest and peace in Heaven, she will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have been touched by her life.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Sunset Heights Baptist Church, with Rev. Jess Little officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
