

Juanita “Nita” Caroline Cummins went home to her Lord and Savior on the morning of May 12, 2016 while at her residence in Odessa. Nita was born December 8, 1934 in Electra, TX to John & Frances (Reis) Mengwasser. She lived in Electra until 1944. Her family moved to Lovington, New Mexico and then to Ira, Texas. Nita graduated from Ira High School in 1953. In 1956, Nita married James “Jim” W. Cummins. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage before Jim’s passing in 2014.
After working many years as a draftsman for Odessa Reproduction, she retired from Phillips 66 where she worked as a chart intergrator.
Nita’s greatest joys were her family, her home, her grandchildren and playing golf.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances Mengwasser, husband Jim Cummins, infant daughter, Connie, brothers, Engelbert and Robert, and sisters, Irene Bindel and Louise Davidson.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha Cummins McAllister of New Braunfels, TX, daughter, Amy Cummins Martin and husband Greg of Odessa, grandsons, Daniel McAllister and wife Katie, Braden Martin, Brett Martin, granddaughters, Nita Anne McAllister, Jayne Marie McAllister, great-grandson, John Sterling McAllister, Sister, Mildred Prentiss of Oklahoma City, OK and sister-in-law, Pam Mengwasser of Edmond, OK, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Services will be at 11:00 am. Monday, May 16, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Odessa . Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Greg Martin, Braden Martin, Brett Martin, Daniel McAllister, Philip Marek, Craig Lomax and honorary pallbearer Robert Lomax.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Home Hospice and Visiting Angels for all of their assistance with their mother’s care during her final days.
