Kenneth Lee Sherbon

“Land of Goshen! I’m home!”

Kenneth Lee Sherbon, 79 years young, departed this life and joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven on Monday, July 8, 2013. Preceding him and awaiting his arrival are his parents Lucy and Fred Sherbon, sister Rose Evelyn Henninger, brother Ernest A. Sherbon and granddaughter Christina Ann Warden. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 57 years, Barbara Sherbon, brother Dewey Sherbon and wife Oralene of Tulsa, Oklahoma, daughter Rose E. Hutchison and husband Dennis of Garland, Texas, daughter Gloria McGuire and husband Randy of Odessa, son Robert Sherbon and wife Blanca of Odessa, six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

Ken was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma and lived there until his enlistment in the U.S. Army. While in the Army he met the love of his life, Barbara. Ken and Barbara raised their three children in El Paso, Texas where Ken retired from the Army after twenty years of service having achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3. They relocated to Odessa in 2003 to be nearer to their children.

The family would like to thank the staff of Home Hospice, Dr. Jimmy Braswell, Aleida, Corina, and Christy of A. Pleasant Living, and Vanessa of Dr. Raja Naidu’s clinic for the care they provided to Ken and his family.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, July 10th at Frank Wilson Funeral Home and the memorial service at 10 am on Thursday, July 11th at St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. The pallbearers are his grandchildren, Stevie Logan, David Sherbon, Ryan McGuire, Shay Sherbon, Darren Farrill, and great grandson Tyler Logan. The internment will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas on Friday, July 12th at 1 pm.

Ken will be dearly missed but, as Christians, we believe this is not goodbye but only a temporary separation until “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,” we will be reunited.
