Mr. Larry Duane Almquist, known as “Pots” by his grandson and “Papaw” by his granddaughters, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 14th 2021. He was born in the town of Holdrege, Nebraska to Gerald and Nina Almquist On February 1st, 1952. The Almquist family later moved to Odessa, Texas in the year 1965, where they began attending Kingston Avenue Baptist Church. It was there that Larry met Linda McKnight, to whom he united with in holy Matrimony on September 11th, 1970. Linda and Larry continued to attend Kingston Avenue Baptist Church where Larry served as a music minister for 11 years. Larry was a machinist for most of his working years, however even in retirement, he was always seen working on something. Some of his personal interests were riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, playing games with family and much more.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Nina Almquist, as well as his brother Paul Almquist.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Almquist of Odessa, Texas His children son Paul Almquist and wife Tina Almquist of Gardendale, Texas and Daughter Janice Campbell of Odessa Texas, his siblings, sister Arlene Laxton and husband T.R Laxton of Olden, TX, and brother Jack Almquist and wife Naomi Almquist of Hermleigh, Texas and his grandchildren, Dusty Pruett Almquist, Ryleigh Campbell, Landrie Almquist and Madosyn Campbell of Midland and Odessa, Texas, whom Larry considered his greatest treasures in life.
Visitation will be Thursday evening 6 to 8 at Kingston Ave Baptist Church. Celebration of life services will be Friday afternoon at 2 pm at Kingston Ave Baptist church.
