Leonard Ernest Ruebush passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018 in Odessa, Texas at the age of 95. Leonard is survived by son Phillip David Ruebush, Sr. and wife Ramona of Lubbock Texas, daughter Elizabeth Myers and husband Bryon of Gaithersburg Maryland, daughter Rebecca Hernandez and husband George of Brownwood, Texas and son Stephen Ruebush of Odessa, Texas, also nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Clara Belle Hanks Ruebush.
Leonard was born on May 20, 1923 in Deming New Mexico to Samuel Roy and Bertha Ruebush. He graduated from Deming High School. He and Clara married on August 31, 1946 in Deming. Leonard served in World War II in the US Navy as a Second -Class Petty Officer in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He fought in thirteen major battle and received the Philippine Republic Presidential Citation and US Navy Unit Commendation.
He retired June 1, 1988 after 30 years with Texico Inc. He served as a Cub Master for pack 251 for several years.
Leonard was actively involved in the life of Sherwood Church of Christ. He served as an elder for many years.
Visitation will be Wednesday December 5, 2018 at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home from 6 pm to 8pm.
Funeral Service will be 1pm Thursday December 6, 2018 at Sherwood Church of Christ with Lynn Money officiating
