

Lonnie came into this world on June 30th 1917 and departed to be with his Lord in heaven December 25 2010. Lonnie was born to M.E. Cooper and Ida McElroy in June of 1917 in Pineland, Texas. He was the youngest of five children who survived past infancy to the Cooper family. He was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings Everett, Oscar, Armon and Dollie Miller, one daughter Mary Lynn and one daughter in law Barbara Ann.
Lonnie was one of what has been called America’s greatest generation having served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II stationed in England. Lonnie married Loudelle Morgan in February 1946 In Ft.Worth Texas and they had 63 Wonderful years together. Lonnie and nine other gentlemen all went in together and helped to establish The College of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico in the early 1960’s. He retired from National Supply in 1982 and spent the remainder of his years at home in Odessa or having coffee with the group of retiree’s that met at Walters on Tuesday and Friday. Lonnie was a man of unshaken faith in God and attended Crescent Park Baptist Church where he worshipped with Loudelle and a host of Sunday school friends. He was an avid Permian Panther fan and attended as many games as possible from 1973 until the present. Lonnie’s great loves in this world were his wife Loudelle, his family and his Lord , all of which he treasured all the days of his life.
Lonnie will be missed by all of us who treasured him as a husband, a father, a grandfather and a friend, our hearts are broken now but will heal as we realize he has passed on to his heavenly rewards. God bless all of those he touched and those who touched him during his time on this earth . Weep not for he is no longer bound by his worldly shackles but at the right hand of God waiting on the rest of us to join him in glory.
Lonnie is survived by his wife Loudelle, a daughter and son in law Sharon and Carl Tucker of Ft. Worth, two sons Gary and wife Revice, and Larry and wife Debbie all of Odessa. There are 10 grandchildren, Keith Tucker and wife Michelle, Kevin Tucker and wife Jill, Kimberly Tucker all of Ft .Worth, also Kimberly Neal and husband Ronnie, Melissa Cooper all of Odessa, and Jeff Hamlin and wife Christy of Ft. Worth. Great- grandchildren Lauren Ham and Abby Tucker, Caleb Tucker, Sarah Gregory and husband Ty, Katie Hamlin of Ft. Worth, and Destin and Joseph Neal of Odessa.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. .Wednesday, December29th , at Crescent Park Baptist Church, Odessa Texas.
