Lorenzo was born on September 5, 1944, in a small house in Pyote, Texas delivered by his grandmother, which at the time, was the custom. Lorenzo was the first of an eventual five children born to Acension and Eluteria (Lorenzo, Jimmy, Joe, Acension Jr., Maria and Yolanda) Bañuelos. He also had two other siblings (David Banner, and Vicenta Bernard), several of whom have preceded him in death, as well as Ascencion and Elahutria Bañuelos.
My father was loved by many, and respected by all. In case you somehow didn't know, Lorenzo met no strangers, and was rumored to have talked 10 minutes before realizing he was talking to a statue. His friendliness was sincere and deep.
I'm the only biological child of Lorenzo and Rachel, but my list of siblings "by love" is long indeed, and Dad always had time for us and all people. He listened intently, and responded with such clarity and wisdom. Without being "preachy", his advice was warm and could always be traced back to his strong catholic faith.
Being around friends and family ( immediate/extended/adopted) gave him tremendous joy. By the way, three of his inherited daughters became the rocks of my life (Marina Natividad, Janie Zuniga, and Morgan Jaramillo).
