

Louis Long Haynie, 79, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born March 27, 1932 in Negreet, Louisiana to Charles William & Bessie Irene (Thorla) Haynie. He was the quarterback for the Leesville, Louisiana High School. He moved to Odessa in 1947 and attended Odessa High School. He united in Holy Matrimony with Glenda Ruth Taylor April 4, 1952.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was part owner of LESGO Rental Tools until his retirement in 1989. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa. He loved his church & his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the Dallas Cowboys. In his early years he played and managed the softball team for Trinity Baptist Church. He loved to sing, especially to his grandchildren.
He always gave to everyone else, he was there for anyone who needed anything and never expected anything in return. His love was unconditional. He was a great role model and friend to his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Charles, Ralph, Dudley, Frank, William & Bobbie, Haynie, sisters, Merle Eagles, Mary Albritton, Pat Clements & Dorathea Haynie.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Glenda Haynie of Odessa, sons, Allan Haynie & wife Rhonda of Odessa, Bobby Haynie & wife Karen of Harrah, OK, daughter, Susie Edwards & husband Jack of Odessa, (6) grandchildren, Kristi Haynie of Odessa, Jason Haynie & wife Amanda of Harrah, OK, Dr. Michael Edwards & wife Katie of Odessa, Dennis Haynie & wife Kaci of Midland, Lori Smith & husband Dustin of Harrah, OK, Judy Tanksley & husband Steven of Oklahoma City, OK & (11) great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, family & friends.
There will be a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2011 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will be accepting visitors at the home of Allan Haynie, 1800 E. 43rd St., following the burial.
