

In the Loving Arms of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is to be found, Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Dear Friend. Maria L. Hernandez 91 of Odessa passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024. She was born October 18, 1932, in El Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico to Gabino and Manuela Lujan. She was united to her beloved husband Manuel O. Hernandez on December 24, 1950, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. She is preceded in death by her husband Manuel O Hernandez, parents Gabino and Manuela Lujan; Nine of her sisters and three brothers.
She was a Christian Catholic whose faith was instilled and shared with her family. She was a caring and strong woman whose true passion was her family. Upon entering her home, you were always welcomed by the scent of delicious food being cooked on the stove and a warm conversation at the table. Her greatest passion was to care for and to be around her family who loved her very much. Mama, we all love you very much and will always be missed, but never forgotten.
Mrs. Hernandez is survived by her sisters: Aurelia Caro of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico and Silvia Najera of Midland, Texas. Daughters: Rosa Pando & husband Carlos, Gracia Valdez & husband Santiago all of Odessa, Texas. Sons: Hector Hernandez & wife Guadalupe, Ruben Hernandez & wife Debra all of Odessa, Eric Hernandez & fiancé Mitchelle Pérez of San Antonio, Texas.
Eight grandchildren: Aime Pando, Shawn Fossett, Noe Hernandez, Carlos Ivan Pando, Karina Ligon, Alex Pando, Kristina Villesca, and Hector M. Hernandez, Jr along with 18 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Her loyal shih tzu companion Wille. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
The pallbearers will be Noe Hernandez, Alex Pando, Hector M. Hernandez, Jr, Austin Pando Rivera, Alex Acosta, and Jaime Orona.
The family would like to take this time to express our utmost sincere gratitude to each one of you for your prayers, floral arrangements, food offerings and especially your presence with us during this difficult time. A special thanks to her home care nurse Maya Gonzalez. Special gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Medical Center Hospital and Hospice of Odessa. May God Bless You All Abundantly.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 9am to 8pm with a Rosary at 6:30pm at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel, 1700 N Jackson Ave, Odessa, Texas 79761. Mass will be celebrated at 12pm Friday, May 31, 2024, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 2633 Conover Ave, Odessa, Texas 79763, with Reverend Lazaro officiating. Interment to follow at Ector County Cemetery Los Angeles Section, 300 S Dixie Blvd, Odessa, Texas 79761.
