Maria "Guera" Socorro (Luna) Juarez

Guera was born on April 23, 1941 to Refugio Luna and Leonor Saenz Luna in El Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was the second oldest of twelve siblings. Guera was always taking care of people, and she worked as a mid-wife and a health care worker for most of her life. She met the love of her life Ruben Juarez when she was 18 years old. They were married and started their life raising their four boys.

Guera will be remembered for her love of cooking, especially tamales, homemade bread and cookies. She had a giving soul. She always knew when someone was in need, and many family, friends and neighbors would give her their "extras" so that she could share them. Every year on "All Souls Day," she would make extra flower arrangements to place at graves, so that no one was forgotten.

A special thank you to Maria Elena Armendariz, who was her closest friend and always there for Guera.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ruben Juarez Sr.; her son Ruben Juarez Jr.; siblings, Remedios L. Montoya, Consuelo L. Gardea, and parents.

Guera is survived by her sons Rojelio, Rene and Ricardo; siblings Hector M. Luna, Refugio Luna Jr., Enrique Luna, Eliseo Luna, Aurora L. Alaniz, Criselda Guerrero, Norma Alvarado, Enoe Garcia. Leonor L.Castillo, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends.

A visitation for Guera will be held September 19, 2023, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM & September 20, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM with Service and Rosary starting at 6:00 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, 601 N Alleghaney Ave, Odessa, Texas 79761.

Guera will be laid to rest at El Panteon del Mulato, Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico.
