Marion Lamar Hurst, age 65, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Hospice House in Odessa.

He entered the Army in 1968, and was wounded in Vietnam in 1969. He received the Purple Heart and various other medals. He was in a body cast most of three years because his femur bone broke three different times.
Marion never saw a stranger. He would talk to anyone he met. He liked everyone, especially old people.

When he was 16 and 17 years of age, he worked for a grocery in Hobbs. All the older women that shopped at the store loved him and the manager would let him ride home with them in order to take in their groceries, and then they would bring him back to the store.
He was a long-time “Texas Longhorn” fan. His apartment was totally decorated in Longhorn items, including his bathroom shower curtain, rugs, bed sheets, etc.
He was a member of the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, and the American Legion. He was Baptist, having joined the church in Hobbs, NM.
