Marita Janette Hassell

Marita was born in Brownwood, Texas, to George and lola Stubblefield Beeson. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1949.

Marita married Joe Hassell June 3, 1950. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother,

great-- grandmother, and great-great grandmother. When her children went to Ross Elementary, she was active as a room mother, PTA member and Girl Scout leader.

She worked as a secretary at Broncho Chevrolet and the Schlemeyer field Airport. In her spare time, Marita enjoyed playing piano, doing needlework, and working puzzles. She was also an enthusiastic Texas football fan.She was an active member of Temple Baptist and then Crossroads.

Marita was preceded in death by her husband Joe Hassell and parents George and lola Stubblefield Beeson.

She is survived by daughters Karen McCord and her husband Phil, Kathy Hassell, Karla Ross and her husband Charlie, five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great- great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Hubbard

Kelly Funeral Home Chapel, 601 N. Alleghaney Ave, Odessa, TX 7976, David Newton will officiate. A committal service to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 6801 E, I-20BL, Odessa, TX 79762.
