Mary Lou was born on February 21, 1950, in San Angelo, Texas to Willa Joyce Dowdy Thomas and James Leonard Thomas. She graduated from Cross Plains High School in 1968 and was a retired bookkeeper for various companies around the area, which she enjoyed thoroughly. Mary Lou was known for making prom dresses and wedding cakes and enjoyed doing arts and crafts with family and friends. She also enjoyed watching sci-fi movies and especially loved scary movies and loved getting scared watching them with her family. Mary Lou had a little poodle called Atpoo who she adored. She loved taking care of her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, James and Willa Thomas.
Those left behind to cherish the Memory of Mary Lou Jeffreys are her husband of thirty-six years, Douglas Wayne Jeffreys of Odessa; children, Tyron “Ty” Johnson and his wife Dr. Stacy Johnson of Rockport, Texas, Dena Manning and her husband Leonard of Odessa, Texas, Brian Jeffreys of Blanco, Texas and Mandy McWilliams and her husband Austin of Austin, Texas; her brother, James Leon Thomas of Coleman, Texas; her sisters, Gloria Diane Thomas-Brooks and her husband Glen Brooks of Coleman, Texas and Novella Joyce Hargrove of Texarkana, Texas; grandchildren, Nici Riojas, Rohde Riojas, Callie Johnson, Presley McWilliams, Jeffrey McWilliams, Hollis Hudgens and his wife Madi, and Lacie Clay and her husband Hershel; great grandchildren, Charlee Grady, Lorin Hudgens, Ryker Hudgens, Shyann Clay and Haigen Clay, and unborn Hallee Louise Riojas; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home located at 4635 Oakwood Dr, Odessa, TX 79761. A “Celebration of Life” Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2026, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Odessa.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Richard Garner, Leonard Manning, Rohde Riojas, Austin McWilliams, Jeffrey McWilliams and Hollis Hudgens.
